In my efforts as an arts educator, I strive to use visual arts lessons to connect different areas of study by reaching across subject-matter lines and emphasizing unifying concepts. Ideally, arts integration helps to open up the curriculum and explore new ways of teaching content. Studies have shown that helping young students to develop competencies in creative problem solving, communication, and time management will contribute to lifelong learning, including career skills. The approach I have developed over my 25 years in the classroom strives to nurture student creativity while developing competence in perception, communication, imagination, judgment, and social understanding. The art lessons are a tool for developing higher-order thinking skills as well as contributing to the behavioral and psychological well-being of the child.

I have been a teaching artist for over 30 years, and I've seen how making art expands a person's mind and spirit. I have developed methods and exercises that help develop skills and foster creative problem solving. I offer lessons in drawing, painting, and sculpture and can also act as a mentor or private "art coach" for more emerging or experienced artists. The adult "Wine and Paint' events I present are fun and educational. I try to choose a theme that is accessible and challenging. My goal is to tap into a person's natural creativity and at the same time help them to build basic art making skills. I have done these activities for small groups in private homes and community centers as well as company/corporate events for groups of 30 or more, both in person and online"
